The »Valency Dictionary of Etymologically Related Words« consciously takes its bearings from already existing valency dictionaries covering verbs, adjectives and nouns. At the same time it draws upon the latest findings in semantic-field research for the lexicographic processing of the selected semantic fields. The fields themselves are taken from various thematic areas and include designations both of concrete and abstract phenomena; particular care is taken to reflect the whole range of possible word meanings and the various kinds of word-formation. Naturally, the emphasis is on words with multiple valency-sets as these are of major significance in the learning and use of a language. The dictionary is designed as a work of reference for all those interested in acquiring a more than superficial knowledge of German.
